The Restaurant
The elegantly simple facade on Webster Street belies the charm of the warm California Tuscan interior. Walls in gold, moss, and burnt sienna provide a perfect backdrop for the minimalist black and white photo montages.
The beautiful worn-wood metal topped bar showcases the full compliment of liquors and a compact all Italian wine list making Happy Hour, truly a happy hour. Polished wood tables are set simple yet sophisticated table settings providing a friendly ambiance to enjoy Italian comfort food.
Chef John's creative touch provides rustic Italian dishes with a sense of balance and culinary dexterity seldom seen. The minimalist menu changes daily to best reflect seasonal locally grown fare. The flavors of Tuscany provide upscale dining at neighborhood prices.
The Chef
Chef John Couacaud started in the food business as a teenager on the California Central Coast. Always dreaming of his own place, he absorbed the best from many Bay Area Kitchens including Olivetto in Oakland, Prima in Walnut Creek, even doing a stint with the Kimpton Group.
The Webster Street neighborhood in Alameda seemed an unlikely place to work out his dream, but Chef John sees a future of vibrant growth where he can live and work with friendly people, providing up-scale dining at neighborhood prices.
